Passes out from excitement...

OMG OMG OMFG. It’s canon. It’s bloody canon.

Gene/Sam written in Alex’s notes, "Gene ♥ Sam" on the wall, and “I’ll give you the story of Sam and Gene” in the trailer for next week.. *is happy slasher*

First off, I keep noticing a kind of French tinge to the theme music - maybe like a burst of accordion or something, just very brief.

Did they have Mr Muscle in 1983? I thought that was much more recent. I also thought there were a lot of gay references this week - “shirt-lifters”, “out of the closet and all over me”, “a drink that doesn’t look like it’s minced its way over from Mayfair”

I thought Keats was even more creepy than usual this week, but at times he seemed more human, as well; more vulnerable.

Ray is talking himself up as a superstud again, but this time we know for certain that he knows he’s talking rubbish. “I’ve seen the way she looks at me - it’s in the bag”. So why bother doing that? What did he have to gain?

When Keats said “Sometimes I wake up in the night and worry that I’ve misjudged him [Gene].” Then after that, did he say, “...that it’s me that’s bad, not him.” ?

I agree with everyone above who said that Gene was looking particularly hot this week! Also, I thought Danny Stafford’s comment to Gene about “someone younger, better looking,” taking over his job. Which he is doing, apparently. Chris calls Keats Guv, and Keats gets to do the “holding the dying” thing.

Why didn’t Viv call the ambulance on Alex’s say-so? He waited until Gene gave him the nod.

When Alex was pointing out to Chris and Gene the consequences of his beating up Danny Stafford, they were lighting Chris the same as ghost!copper, and showing him right-profile only, like we saw ghost!copper in the field.

Towards the end, we were shown several times that there is total darkness behind Chris, Gene, Alex and Shaz. And I think the reason that Chris didn’t get his LOM moment was that he didn’t </i>choose</i> to stay with Gene. Keats allowed him to stay with Gene instead of taking him onto his own team.

I was a bit puzzled by how devastated Keats looked at the end of Gene’s “thank you” speech. Or had he seen ghost!copper too?

All in all a very tense episode, and even if they’re only teasing us with the Gene/Sam references, I am currently a very happy fangirl!

You know, part of me believes they might actually go with this. Not that likely, I know, but they don't have to worry about ratings any more. I suppose there's still enough homophobia out there that they'd have to worry about DVD sales though *sobs*

I thought it was just a rumour that Sam was making some sort of appearance/mention!

*listens to distant squeeing from Halo Towers*

The writing on the wall is at about 11 minutes in.

Hold on, do you mean you haven't been watching the rest of the series? I seriously recommend it, even if you didn't like series one and two. Depending, obviously, on what happens about Sam, I might even be accepting this as canon. He does get quite a few mentions. Also, tying in with this stuff from last night, in series one Alex says to Gene "Someone fell in love with you once."

I've always said my ideal ending would be Sam comes back and Gene runs forward and gives him a big hug and a snog. Oh, my little slasher heart is beating so hard!

I have now seen episode 4 and episode 1 of this series on iplayer and, yeah, WOW *bounces*

I watched the first few episodes of season one, but I'm actually not very good at keeping up with stuff on TV and I felt sad about the lack of Sam - I thought it was pretty well done as a series but, yeah, it was the Gene/Sam that had held my attention and that appeared to be gone. I am so happy that they are now referencing those events again on any level, and I have to think that some of this stuff is intended to nod to slashers even if they don't go there in canon (but oh please, oh please that they do!)

The ideal ending would definitely be Gene and Sam together, off into the sunset. I would of course dearly love them to kiss and make up but even if they're *together* it would satisfy me.

One thing I like about LoM and A2A is the sheer unpredictability of what will happen and where reality will go and how to interpret it; I'm excited all of a sudden again! Thank you so much for posting and putting me onto this! ♥

♥ ♥ ♥

I really hope this isn't a one-off that they make nothing out of. Knowing them it bloody might be but I guess we'll have to see what Litton has to say next week, if he says anything. Don't spoiler me but hopefully we'll get some sort of Annie mention?

I agree about Keats, he's confusing me more than ever. I'm starting to like him very, very much, not really as a person but as a character. They're doing an amazing job with him, like with Frank Morgan but more sustained, more obvious.

*is very happy slasher* I wish they'd do it, I doubt they will, but I wish they would. Their masterplan to get the LoM fans on side would seem to be working, lol.

Saw all the squeeing over here and had to join in. Nearly fell off my chair when I saw the wall!!! ♥♥♥ And then the "Gene/Sam" in Alex's notes. Incredible that the writers would do this. Even if nothing more substantial ever comes out of it us slashers have had a lovely little gift for which I'll always be grateful. :)

As for Keats, he gives me the creeps. I had the distinct impression that when the girl is dying in his arms that he was some kind of angel of death or something. At first I thought it was touching but then it became just kind of eerie and very unsettling.

Re Mr Muscle: Yes, it was around then. I moved house in 1985 and I distinctly remember lending my next door neighbour my can of Mr Muscle to clean her oven. As I recall, it wasn't my first can of the stuff either. So, yes, it most probably was around 2 years earlier in 1983.

Lastly, I've had a go at making an icon out of cozthefangirl's larger picture. I used the Distortions in PSP to straighten it out somewhat and this is the result. If anyone wants to use it they're welcome.
